SA needs civil leaders

Our elections are 2 months away and most South Africans should be fearful when the ANC Youth League president, Julius Malema, publicly states that "We want Jacob Zuma as president ..with all his corruption...we want him as our uneducated president."
In the Sunday Times of 22 February 2009, the editor wrote an article in which he comments about the sorry state of our nation when "At our leaders' behest, we are beginning to accept the normality of the abnormal and the morality of the immoral." Makes you think, doesn't it?
It is the right and duty of ever civil citizen to contribute to this conversation and make the right decision about where this country's going. I did say civil citizen - but what is civility?
I watched glimpses of the Oprah programme last week in which her speaker had written a book about being civil, polite, courteous. But who knows what those words mean? Let's decide what they should mean so we can engage in a discussion around them.
